Today we will use the line
THERE IS A CANDLE IN THE WINDOW
you must use this as the first and last line in your write, as it is with no changes.
OURS IS...
There is a candle in the window
each night it lights the way
for the wayward soul
he longs to see,
to touch...
it glimmers,
casting shadows on the wall,
fleeting glimpses of love lost,
yet held so tightly...
bound by a memory
that haunts him,
until finally he sees,
a path not taken,
deep into the darkness..
it is he that is lost,
until searching he finds,
There is a candle in the window.

Hurry,hurry,worry,worry
ReplyDeletecivilzations rush to and fro.
but what of beauty, what of love
if the gods of war and hate decree.
but what of you and what of me
hurry,hurry,worry,worry
Ok I tried
There is a candle in the window
ReplyDeleteWelcoming the straggler home,
Lost and straying in the darkness
Blinded by the evening gloam.
Lost in thought or lost in sorrow
Fear of the present or tommorrow
Still the flame will flicker there
Reaching out with rays of hope
If you're in need of love and care
There is a candle in the window
There is a canle in the window,
ReplyDeleteJust a stub but still alight,
Faltering, flaring, a pretty sight
Glowing there so late in the night
There is a candle in the window
There is a child there upstairs sleeping,
Breathing softly in his bed
Healthy, cared for and well fed,
Happy dreams run through his head
There is a child there upstairs sleeping.
There is a curtain at that window
Made of lacy cotton fair
Gently stirring in the air
Brushing on the candle flare
There is a curtain at that window
There is a flame upon that curtain
Racing up to reach the wall,
Burnung fast, engulfing all,
Swiftly spreading to the hall
There is a flame upon that curtain.
There is a child there upstairs sleeping
Laying there without a care
Breathing in the smoke-filled air
Quite unafraid as unaware
There is a child there upstairs sleeping.
There is a family there weeping
In the church so full of woe,
Friends around them try to know
How to help them onward go.
There is a family there weeping.
There is a candle in the window
Carved upon the cross so tall
Standing on the grave so small
A reminder there for one and all
There is a candle in the window.
There is a candle in the window.
ReplyDeleteI peered through
Walking by Sunset Avenue.
Inside two playful doe eyes looked out
Wondering I suppose who was tromping about...
My thoughts elevated to the days
When I myself
Had two gentle doe eyes
Pondering and prancing about...
As I passed
I noticed a young lad
Blowing out the flame
Of all that remained.
My thoughts drift back to another place,
Another time.
Of life sublime and mellow.
And hiding under the eaves
There is a candle in the window....
lorely, that was great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about my second one but it insisted on being written.
The Beacon
ReplyDeleteThere’s a candle in the window
See, over there!
It’s lit every night, no exception
The neighbours think she’s odd
I’m here to tell you their wrong
The candle serves as a beacon
For the lost to find their way
through the cover of night
Yep, they come from all over
She never turns anyone away
Some stay a night, some stay weeks,
some never leave
Her door is open to all, you see
Yum! Hot stew tonight
The smell is intoxicating isn’t it?
I hear she makes the best coffee around
Clean sheets, warm blankets, soft pillow
Why, I just might go myself, hehe!
Watch the candle
It’s so bright tonight
What?
Oh no, there’s no shame, she offers no judgement
Just a warm welcome to troubled souls
Ya just have to reach out
See , just over there,
Where there’s a candle in the window
