OURS IS...
Xanadu
Childhood called and I heard the sounds
especially when the Gypsies came around
Their world was filled with my Xanadu
safely tucked in the trees behind our school
They danced and sang to the stars and moon
and gather together in the month of June
they stayed deep into the harvest time
and left just before winter would arrive
A memory of life far back in my youth
one that was lost to tell the truth
until chatting with a long time friend
about our hometown way back then

I really love this. It speaks volumes. When it comes to days of old, well you know me..
ReplyDeleteGreat poem as usual, how come you don't have Xanadu on your playlist to go with the poem?
ReplyDeleteGreat work as ever JL.
ReplyDeleteI'm off form this week after a bout of illness. It is hard enough getting to work and back without the thinking bit too.
