This is a prompting Blog

My intent here is to write a poem from the prompt I give to you , the reader, in hopes that it will inspire something and get others to write with me.

Yesterday was my Birthday....

You all know how it is, never enough time to do what you really want to do, that has been my whole week... no seriously...check it out...

Monday this is what we showed up to do..a whole lot of digging...

And while that was happening there was also a lot of blocks... Five hours and 98 fifty-five lbs blocks later...there was still a lot to go, but we have to rest sometime so we went home for the day ...

Tuesday we got this far...another five hour, 114 blocks day... dog tired...

This is where we went home again... Wednesday we finished the wall... another two hours...
And this is what it looks like all together...
See where the dirty blocks start ?
From there back to the second chain link fence is what we did in 11 1/2 hours...

Then, ummm did I mention yesterday was my birthday and my mom came to see our yard for my birthday ?? Well it has been almost a year since she has come up, so it was VERY special !! She completely surprised me with not just one, but two cakes !!

(Accepting or not, Mom will always call me that!!)

Not only that , but we had a few friends come by right after we got home, so for the rest of the day I looked like this...

This is me after work...and we had company till dark-thirty (8pm my time )

All of this to explain to all you who read our blog and wait for us to read yours... We barely had time to keep up with life so we apologize for our shortage on  reading you, we will try to catch up this week end.
Till then we hope you will still read the rest of the month challenges on JL Dodge writes... it is almost done.

Monday Memories, @ http://memories-on-mondays.blogspot.com/ says let's write about a dream we've had at some point in life.

OURS IS...

When I was but a child
unruly and so wild
I'd ride my horse away
and all day long I'd play
With my dog Rex we'd run
until the setting sun
and when the day was through
we'd sleep the whole night too
dreaming of riding more
beyond our homeland shore

Whew... think we got it in one today !!

Stylish Blogger Award... For us ...Really ??

We are overjoyed that are dear friend Lisa @ http://inspiredbylisa.blogspot.com/
has given us this wonderful award !! Thank you so much !!

To accept the award, you have to do the following

1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.( done )
2. Share 7 things about yourself. ( see below )
3. Award 10-15 blogs who you think deserve this award. ( see below )
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know about the award. ( done )

 Seven things about me...

I am the youngest of three children. I have a sister that is three years older than me and a brother who died when he was 10 months old, sadly, I never got to meet him. Recently I have found other children of my father, My sisters Wendy and Kim... it is a blessing to have them in my life. I hope to meet the others one day.

I LOVE TO WRITE!!! The written word is so great in my eyes, that I cant wait each day to write more, even if its just to say hello. That's one of the many reasons I PROMPT others to write... It's so cool to see the response to a prompt...I really like to see how people think . I'm a poet in my heart, although there are times I have thoughts that I'm a terrible writer..go figure!

I hold a lot of blue ribbons and trophies for horse shows. Although my sister Julie took it a lot farther than I ever did. We rode horses everyday in my childhood and rode in our hometown and neighboring parades. My mom made all of our costumes by hand every year. That is one of my fondest memories of my Mom, sister and I doing things together.

I am a Taurus, in every way. My Mom, Sister and Father are as well....our birthdays are all within a 3 week period of each other, all of our first names start with the letter J.
I have no use for Church, although I do believe in God. To me , its all too commercial.
Christmas is my favorite holiday, but Summer is my favorite time of year.

I like the snow, but I can't stand to be cold...EVER!!!

We pass this award on to these wonderful bloggers...Each of whom we admire for their writes, as well as their STYLISH BLOGS

We thank all of our followers for making us feel welcome in the poetry and blogging world... each of you are very special to us...

WOW.... ( Words of Wednesday) here at Dodge Writes, which means the blogs we follow are going to be crammed into two or more poems. If you are joining us today on this adventure please note it is not necessary for you to do these prompts this way, but we do hope you stop in at each of these wonderful sites. You will enjoy each of them.

For our prompt today we are trying ...The ZaniLa Rhyme... a form created by Laura Lamarca. It has a minimum of three stanzas and no maximum poem length. There are 4 lines per stanza and the rhyme scheme for this form is abcb, with a syllable count of 9/7/9/9 per stanza.

The 3rd line is written as a conjunction and this line repeats at the 3rd line in each stanza, but each time the order is switched up. For example, if your 3rd line is: Make me belong and sing me a song, then you'll repeat it in the 2nd stanza as: Sing me a song and make me belong.

with purple hues
taunting our bare feet
we run through without care

Today's Prompt is Villanelle

The villanelle has no established meter, although most 19th-century villanelles have used trimeter or tetrameter and most 20th-century villanelles have used pentameter. The essence of the fixed modern form is its distinctive pattern of rhyme and repetition. The rhyme-and-refrain pattern of the villanelle can be schematized as A1bA2 abA1 abA2 abA1 abA2 abA1A2 where letters ("a" and "b") indicate the two rhyme sounds, upper case indicates a refrain ("A"), and superscript numerals (1 and 2) indicate Refrain 1 and Refrain 2.
Refrain 1 (A1)
Line 2 (b)
Refrain 2 (A2)
Line 4 (a)
Line 5 (b)
Refrain 1 (A1)
Line 7 (a)
Line 8 (b)
Refrain 2 (A2)
Line 10 (a)
Line 11 (b)
Refrain 1 (A1)
Line 13 (a)
Line 14 (b)
Refrain 2 (A2)
Line 16 (a)
Line 17 (b)
Refrain 1 (A1)
Refrain 2 (A2)

OURS IS...

She kissed him softly

She kissed him softly on his lips
as she says her final goodbye
upon his brow her teardrop drips

Into the cold darkness he slips
as she does her best not to cry
She kissed him softly on his lips

He opens his eyes, her heart skips
but it is just another lie
upon his brow her teardrop drips

Tonight holds a lunar eclipse
she can see it in the clear sky
She kissed him softly on his lips

She remembers love, little clips,
of those happier days gone by
upon his brow her teardrop drips

He's left her now, her heart it grips
to let go she knows she must try
She kissed him softly on his lips
upon his brow her teardrop drips

This is only our second try at this, we hope we did it justice !!

For our prompt today we are doing a Dectina Refrain. The form is a syllable count of 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 and then a repeat of lines 1 - 4 to stress the point made there. It was invented by Catherine Mackie. It is a bit like an inverted nonet with a twist.

Evident; adjective: Plain or obvious; clearly seen or understood.

Now you know why we call today WOW !!! And here we go... OURS ARE...

Dear Me...
Are those laugh lines I see,
there, where all those tears used to be ?
I told you good days would find you one day,
and you believed, now they are here to stay !
You needn't worry about your past,
those bad times, have left you at last,
leave them lay, you have more to do,
memories to make with the ones who love you,
live happily and laugh out loud,
forgive the past, don't be too proud,
the rest of your life is yours to live,
be excessive with the love you give.
All my love... Me
 NEXT WE  OFFER...

MIXED MESSAGES

Love
means you
are never
completely wrong
yet having the strength
to know the right time to
swallow your pride , take the blame,
allow your loved one to be right,
and mean it when you say you're sorry

Love means you are never completely wrong

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST...

LYNN SMITH

You may never truly know
But it is evident to me
that without you life is tragic
our friendship was meant to be
You're truly a gift I treasure
and will 'till the end of my days
it is no illusion we two
are friends, forever and always

LOVE YOU GIRL !!

When daylight broke in the meadows
we never wanted to depart

The rules are you must use at least 8 of the 10 words as they are given, you may write yours in prose or any form of poetry...

Rise to the Occasion &
Take the OSP Challenge!

OURS IS...
Spring is in the air
With a Glamorous flair
surprises burst in colors so bold
inflated and waving a sight to behold
a bounce in her step as she kicks up dust
like a child's balloon she just may combust

Tee hee hee ...

Now on to the Acrostic Only prompt...  which you can find @ http://acrosticonly.blogspot.com/
Prompt 4: Children's Corner (CC)GARFIELD

Grumpy, unless you wake him with food
And sometimes he is down right rude
Really he is just a softy inside
For Odie and Jon he's like jekyll and hide
In a pasta house is where he was born
Engorging himself with lasagna one morn
Lazy and fat as any cat you have found
Destroying everything he is around

LOL ... at least that's how we see him!

Today's Prompt is try something new !

Today on OSP @ http://onestoppoetry.com/ they are asking us to try a form we have never done, and just like that we went over to our friend Penny's blog where she posted a form that we had not seen... here is the just of it ...

Dectina Refrain. The form is a syllable count of 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 and then a repeat of lines 1 - 4 to stress the point made there. It was invented by Catherine Mackie. It is a bit like an inverted nonet with a twist... OURS IS...

If
I were
a poet
of gentle words
would you think of them,
repeating them often,
would they harness a thought,
evoke emotions so deep,
leave you breathless or longing too,
the things I would love to write for you

If I were a poet of gentle words

Hope that is correct Penny... you know how we love to do you proud!

Now for today's attempt at the Acrostic ... Thanks to A/O @ http://acrosticonly.blogspot.com/ for the inspiration in this ...  We are trying ...
Prompt 3: Phrase or Slang (PS) - KISS AND TELL   ... OURS IS...
KISS AND TELL
Knowing the moment is near
Impossibilities dance with fear
Soothing are the words that I hear
Seductively whispered in my ear

Another step closer I'm breathless
Nervously feeling your caresses
Diving deep into you I'm helpless

Tonight we say our goodbye
Eyes burning with tears that I cry
Loneliness and heart break underlie
Leaving us longing for time to go by

Dedicated to our military families, having to say goodbye, separating for months at a time, waiting for the return of their loved ones !

Now you know why we call today WOW !!! And here we go... OURS ARE...

YOUNG AND TENDER
(a letter in poetry form for my nieces and nephew)

Words of wisdom may be lost on you
they were in my young and tender years
but later in life some will ring true
so I'll whisper them in your ears

If at first you dont succeed,
don't think of it as failing
we all learn through trial and error
we mostly call it growing

Love may leave you broken hearted
but dont let it leave you jadded
some one will help you mend again
and that hurt will one day be faded

Keep family and friends close in life
and you'll never be truly alone
while sowing your young and tender oats
remember you can always come home

Moments in life will give you
added reasons for gratitude
those are the ones you may find
will brighten your attitude

Encourage the growth in others
and it will come back to you
Try to live outside the box
do things you wouldn't normally do

Listen to that voice inside of you
that knows of right and wrong
trouble is easy to get into
getting out of it can take long

Now take these thoughts, let them sink
in your young and tender ears
use what you can of any of them
throughout your many years

Much love, Your Auntie !
