This is a prompting Blog

My intent here is to write a poem from the prompt I give to you , the reader, in hopes that it will inspire something and get others to write with me.

Today is Multi-Prompt Monday

Today is Multi-Prompt Monday here at Dodge Writes, which means the blogs we follow are going to be crammed into one or two  poems. If you are joining us today on this adventure please note it is not necessary for you to do these prompts this way, but we do hope you stop in at each of these womdeful sites. You will enjoy each of them.

One Stop Poetry @ http://onestoppoetry.com/  is hosted today by Gay Cannon, who is offering a wonderfully detailed look at meter and line in poetry, prompting us to write or re-write some lines in iambs and anapests.

Mondays Child fair of face @ http://childrensverse.blogspot.com/ Has given us this wonderful picture prompt, asking only that we write a piece of children's poetry, verse, or post your interpertation of the prompt....after you have finished - link your site here and on your blog link back to Monday's Child.

The Prompt from Monday Memories...is a memory of a sibling or an event, you can find them @ http://memories-on-mondays.blogspot.com

Last but not least (at least in our eyes LOL) here at Dodge Writes we are doing a Tanka
(syllable count of 5, 7, 5, 7, 7)

So first we will do the Tanka with Mondays child's prompt... OURS IS...

My bed is a boat
I float in a sea of dreams
to places unseen

Come away to see far lands
we could start by holding hands

And now for the One Stop and Mondays Memories... We hope we get this right !! OURS IS...

NOXZEMA

My sister and I  were not well behaved
and left on our own we often had played
with stuff in the yard or on our big horse
all the things that we should not have of course

One time that rings bells in my memory
brought so much trouble for Julie and me
the large jars of noxzema that mom once had
in food fight style (man, we were so bad)

The fun we had on that long ago day
still can bring smiles to each in our way
though mom was much less than happy with us
we still think the fun was worth all the fuss

LOL it really was fun, but the clean up ... not so much !
YOUR TURN
ENJOY

  1. Wow!...no way I could have squeezed all those in like that. Very impressive. In poetry too!

  3. I loved both poems so much! The first transporting us to the magical world of dreams, and the second making me smile in rememberance of some of the messy situations my sisters and I got into when mom was out of sight. A Noxema fight sounds like great fun! Thank you for your participating in Monday Memories, it's always a delight to come see what you've written!
