This is a prompting Blog

My intent here is to write a poem from the prompt I give to you , the reader, in hopes that it will inspire something and get others to write with me.

Today's Prompt is NONNET

A Nonnet is a type of poem which has the following requirements:
  • It has nine lines
  • The first line has 9 syllables, the second 8 syllables, the third 7 syllables until the ninth line which has one syllable.
  • Has an iambic meter (stress every other syllable) An iamb or iambus is a metrical foot used in various types of poetry. Originally the term referred to one of the feet of the quantitative meter of classical Greek prosody: a short syllable followed by a long syllable (as in delay). This terminology was adopted in the description of accentual-syllabic verse in English, where it refers to a foot comprising an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable (as in a-bove).
Today we are doing a Nonnet with a reverse Nonnet just to do something different....
OURS IS...

The morning smells young and sweet today
as the sun caresses the dew
the horizon shadows melt
like the snows to springs touch
rivers trickling
softly sweeping
renew life
waking
us

Birds
chirping
songs of old
wings are spreading
taking freedoms flight
flapping, soaring, gliding,
one with the morning skyline
fleeting moments in the grand scheme
Today, the morning smells young and sweet

there are a ton of fun forms out there and we will try them all here if it is possible... I took liberties with this one by doing the reverse with it, but I like to mix things up sometimes !!

    your nonnet
    makes me feel good
    with those birds chirping
    and the rivers trickling
a taste of heaven on earth
if today it's this sweet and good

  10. How short and hard this life may appear

On losing those we hold so dear

Full of hurt and full of fear

Short on joy, short on cheer.

    Overwhelming pain,

    Hope on the wane

    Constant drain

    Insane

    Loss

    Parted

    Pain darted

    Broken hearted

    A new time started

    Stumbling through each new day

    Learning peace along the way

Finding comfort in things folk say

The price of love is loss and we pay.

This is for my friend Posh who died, aged 41, suddenly on Thursday.

    They hurt my tounge
    Lots of junk

My toes are so cold, my nose is red,
Going to stay here in my bed,
Tucked up cosy, warm and snug,
    Just like a little bug.
    Close my eyes have dreams,
    Of sunny beams,
    On my brow,
    Come now,
    Sleep.

    Dreams,
    Now real,
    Heat I feel,
    Eyes wide, the sun?
    Hibernation done.
    Time to wake and wonder,
From my safe hole down under,
Need food for my empty tummy,
Time to forage for something yummy.

Floating in a wide sea of limbo
Not knowing what to think or feel
How does one stand still or move
    When it seems so unreal
    Do i keep hoping
    Or give up
    And accept
    Grief
    It hurts
    But what if
    we prolong pain
    Does it get better
    Or do we just delay
    The connection that we seek
We sadly sink in aimless quest
Trusting faithfully that love knows best
