This is a prompting Blog

My intent here is to write a poem from the prompt I give to you , the reader, in hopes that it will inspire something and get others to write with me.

Today's Prompt is Terzanelle

terzanelle is a poetry form which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima. It is nineteen lines total, with five triplets and a concluding quatrain. The middle line of each triplet stanza is repeated as the third line of the following stanza, and the first and third lines of the initial stanza are the second and final lines of the concluding quatrain; thus, seven of the lines are repeated in the poem. The rhyme scheme is as follows, with bracketed letters representing individual rhymes:

Verse 1 (a)
Verse 2 (b)
Verse 3 (a)
Verse 4 (b)
Verse 5 (c)
Verse 2 (b)
Verse 6 (c)
Verse 7 (d)
Verse 5 (c)
Verse 8 (d)
Verse 9 (e)
Verse 7 (d)
Verse 10 (e)
Verse 11 (f)
Verse 9 (e)
-Concluding quatrain:
Verse 12 (f)
Verse 1 (a)
Verse 11 (f)
Verse 3 (a)
The middle lines of the final couplet can optionally be put in the opposite order, for an ending consisting of two couplets. Type II ending:
Verse 12 (f)
Verse 11 (f)
Verse 1 (a)
Verse 3 (a)
Alternately, for those familiar with capital-letter rhyme notation, in which a capitalized letter indicated a line repeated verbatim:
ABA'
bCB
cDC
dED
eFE
fAFA'
Or, for the alternate (couplet) ending, the final stanza is:
fFAA'

Ok so we are a bit off trying this, but it sounds harder than it is (WE HOPE)  ....OURS IS ....

GIVE ME ALL THAT LOVE EMPOWERS

Lay me in a bed of flowers
let the sun shine upon my face
give me all that love empowers

when I rise let me embrace
the warming glow of happiness
let the sun shine upon my face

shrugging off all the daily stress
brighten days with love abiding
the warming glow of happiness

For in truth there is no hiding
give me what I'm longing for
brighten days with love abiding

if there are tears, just let them pour
cleanse the air for a new dawn
give me what I'm longing for

cradled in love where we belong
lay me in a bed of flowers
hear my heart beating true and strong
give me all that love empowers

  3. Interesting form, JL and once again you do it beautifully.
It triggered a poem that has been nagging in my brain but I have been unable to write. This form seems to fit it.
